“Four Way Test Essay Contest in Colombia"
Working together with our Sister Club in Colombia, the Cartagena de Indias RC, we organized and successfully completed the first Four Way Test Essay Contest in that city and in Colombia for that matter.
Talking about our club’s activities and programs with the Cartagena de Indias RC we found out that they have never heard of the Contest. Explaining what it is and what we expect to obtain with the opportunity of having HS graduating class thinking about our ethical four way test, it was decided by the presidents of both clubs to organize the contest for the first time in Cartagena. After it was done I came to learn that it was not only the first for the city but for the whole country.
The “San Pedro Claver High School” was chosen for the contest. Three volunteers from the Cartagena RC and two from the RC of Humble (Herman Morales and myself) graded the essays and last 25th of November during the High School graduation ceremony the winners of the contest were announced and the first place recipient read her essay to all the graduating class. $1,000.00 dollars donated by our Club were distributed within the first three places. On the pictures Juliana Gonzales, president of the Cartagena de Indias RC giving the first place award during the graduation ceremony and other pictures giving the actual checks.
