Rotary's focus is in the areas of 1) literacy and education 2) peace and conflict resolution 3) disease prevention and treatment 4) water and sanitation 5) maternal and child health and 6) economic and community development.

The Rotary Club of Humble l has raised more than $1,800,000 for humanitarian needs in the past 17 years. More than $100,000 has been invested in humanitarian needs during the past year. $32.000 has been given to support 10 water projects internationally over the years. Rotary International has raised more than $160 million of a goal of $200 million to match $355 million in challenge grants received from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. At the end of this program, Rotary will have raised more than $1.2 Billion--that's right--Billion to eradicate polio. Two billion children have been immunized and polio remains in only four countries in the world. Humble Intercontinental has raised $28,000 towards this cause. Local support has been provided to, Humble Area Assistance Ministries, The Mission Northeast, Village Learning Center, Family Time, YMCA, Boy Scouts, Scholarships and FFA Scholarships..

International projects supported include, clean water projects, "Children of the Dump", Polio eradication, literacy and hunger . Humble Rotary is very active in international peace and conflict resolution via Youth Exchange where incoming and outgoing students are sponsored. Ambassadorial Scholarships provide the opportunity for young adults to study abroad.

The club's most significant international project has been the "Children of the Dump" in Nicaragua. This project was adopted by Rotary International and is now supported by clubs from around the world.

The Children of The Dump Project became a Rotary Process for international projects. Read more about this at this url http://www.childrenofthedumps.org/the_process.htm

The Rotary Club of Humble l supports its projects thru several fund raising efforts with its annual Humble Rotary Festival, Car Show and Fish Fry being the major fund raiser, normally held in the April/May time period. The local community is invited to participate in this event by purchasing Event tickets tickets or via the donation of $100 for a raffle ticket for the opportunity to win $35,000 towards the purchase of a new car from a sponsoring dealer., and the opportunity to win other products such as an I-Pad, 46 " HDTV, Amazon Kindle, seven gift certificates , six for $200 and one for $300 from Deerbrook Mall. . Raffle tickets are limited to the first 600 requests. You do not have to be present to win. The real winners are the charitable projects that are supported by Rotary. Rotary is truly "Humanity in Motion".

Other fund raising activities include the FFA Rodeo where we invite individual members to contribute $100 towards the Club bidding on animals raised by students towards scholarships. Traditionally we have successfully bid on a steer and at least one other animal and the resulting meat from these animals is donated to the Family Time women's shelter providing a one year supply of meat to this organization. The auction is scheduled for a Friday in February at the Humble Civic Center with lunch at 11:30 and the auction at 1 PM. Our club generally raises $7,500 for scholarships at his event.

Other Fund raising events - The Humble club also performs other fund raising activities where the money does not flow through the hands of the Club but is funneled directly to the charities involved such as the Annual Ding- a Ling where Rotarians ring the bell at Wal-Mart stores around the city to raise funds for the Salvation Army.
