Olivia Hernandez, Recommended For Rotary Global Scholarship By District.
The Scholarship interview committee of District 5890 recommended that a Rotary Global Scholarship be awarded to Olivia Hernandez who is sponsored by our club.
The Scholarship is in the amount of $30,000 with $15,000 coming from District funds which attract a match from The Rotary Foundation.
Olivia will graduate from Rice University this coming May with a B.A. in Sociology and plans to attend the University of Edinburgh to obtain a Master of Science-International Development degree. She then hopes to attend law school at Stanford.
The next step for Olivia is to prepare a Global Scholarship application to the Rotary Foundation where it will undergo a comprehensive review in Evanston and hopefully approved.
Jennifer Gueler, a Global Scholar in London. also from Rice, recommended Olivia and stated she personally knew Olivia well and said “she is a genuine, compassionate, and ambitious individual who would really take what she learns and put it back into helping the community. I believe she would be an excellent candidate and, should your club choose to sponsor her, I would be more than happy to help her through understanding the expectations of the grant and the scholarship application process”.
Bill Davis played a pivotal role in this process as he asked Jeniffer for recommendations of potential prospects for the Global Scholarship program. Bill will serve as Olivia's councelor.
